Geriatric Counselling

Every one of us is aging, every day. Isn't it the quality of our life that matters to us; as well as to our families & friends?  Each person gets old at a different time; and has individual challenges each step of the way.  Some are "young at heart", while others are old way before their time.  Solid research, various cultures, and experience tells us now that it is never too old to learn; it is never too horrible to face whatever might haunt us, and it is never too late to embrace happiness, or at least become content.  My Home-Visit Therapy is just a conversation with a senior patient who is willing to start with "Hello......"   My gentle approach allows the senior to set the pace, and the topics.  Most seniors, especially the ones who say "I don't need anything like that" express gratitude for having the right kind of professional to talk to in confidence.

Family Therapy

You have a family, whether you own them, or they disown you.  And now, we can dessignate who is our "real family", even when they aren't blood relations.  Over 75 years of Science, my 25 yrs of expertise, and personal experience continues to teach me ways to help others help themselves be, or become happier; even during the bad times.

Too often, an individual, or couple, or an entire family get stuck; either too ridgid, &/or too loose with values, beliefs, desires.  I completed two additional post-graduate years studying, and doing a clinical fellowship interning with families of many various shapes, colors, attitudes, and convictions.  You can discover healthy ways to be different, or be closer while still being your true self.  Family

is dynamic, fluid, judgemental, and loving; sometimes all at once.    Often, it just takes the right sort of professional to hold up the mirror at the right time, and right angle for an individual or an entire family to view challenges in a healthier light.

Grief Recovery

Empty feeling, Loss, Sadness.......what can anyone say at the time when someone important to you is dying...... dies.  We also know that there are many deaths we might encournter on our life-long journey:  loss of a relationship is a death; loss of a cherished pet; lostt of a job, or ability to drive, or do physical activities, or do a loved hobby.

Certainly, there is that initial SHOCK; it hits each person a bit differently, and it lasts for different amounts of time.  It is the aftermath,, when research has shown that most of us have more healthy options to embrace grief than we were taught, or shown.  There are steps that have proven helpful when the person doesn't want to get out of bed.   There are healthy and unhealthy ways to come to terms with the new reality.  It is a question of learning balance.  That is what my professional skills provide.
